Donald Trump is accusing GOP leaders of not having any “real answers” for the “horror story” of the Dreamers, a group of immigrants brought to the United States as children and whose lives have been forever changed by President Barack Obama’s unilateral decision to defer deportation.
“The Republican leaders in Congress are refusing to provide the answers to the horror story of the DACA Program,” Trump tweeted Tuesday.
“Their capitulation to amnesty is a total capitulation.
#DACADebate”The president, a former reality TV star, was referring to Republican leaders who are opposed to the DACA program, which allows undocumented immigrants who arrived in the United State before age 16 to remain in the country.
Trump also said that Republicans should stop talking to reporters about the issue and instead focus on “other issues” instead.
The White House on Tuesday released a new poll showing Trump has a commanding lead in the race for the White House.
In a poll conducted for CNN, 53 percent of voters said they want Trump to be the next president, up from 46 percent in October.
The poll was conducted for the network by the University of Michigan’s Center for Politics.
It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
